The Royal Fowl was written at the height of the Carlisle, Oxford debate, this interesting study of the Old English Game seeks to explain the differences in origin between the modern styles of Old English Game and the pure strains of Oxford OEG. Although it caused much controversy at the time of publication, I find this book interesting to read. If the negative comments had been omitted the work would have increased in stature.
