This book is a guide to the plants that are found along the Perth coastline and on the islands between Dongara and Dunsborough. Over 130 species are described and illustrated and are to be found growing on the white limesand dunes beside the sea, on rocky limestone foreshores, coral rubble and in the case of sea grasses in the shallow offshore waters.
Most species are illustrated with a full page colour illustration accompanied on the next page with the plants distribution and a locality map, a brief description, flowering period and a notes section. In most cases the description is supplemented with excellent line drawings. The notes section contains details of the peculiarities of the plant.
Both weeds (or introduced plants) and natives are included in the book and there is an introductory section that describes the characteristics of the coastal area. This is a most attractive book with excellent illustrations that capture the essence of the plants. For nature lovers in the region this is a must have book, for others outside the region this book will be a delightful reference to an area of Australia that is remote to most of us.
