SIGNED First Edition. Written by the son of Admiral Keyes who was the liaison of the British to King Leopold III during the 18 day campaign in May 1940. He exposes how King Leopold was forced to abandon well prepared defensive positions out of solidarity with the allies (British and French) and how the Belgian Army was sacrificed by the British to safe the Expeditionary Corps. The British made the decision and prepared to evacuate long before telling their Allies. Then blamed the King for allegedly surrendering without notifying the Allies and forcing the retreat.
The King was used as a scapegoat by Churchill and especially the French to justify their miserable performance. History was never set right on this except for this book. Read it and you will have a totally different view why the Germans were so successful in 1940.
