This book is not only about the shipwrecks and incidents involving ships at Port Victoria, but looks at the connection with the outports of Spencer Gulf and Eyre Peninsula; the association between the wheat grower and the Cape Horn ships, and how they relied on each other. The author’s passion for all things maritime clearly shows in this superb book. This is a book, thoroughly researched over many years, very well written and illustrated, and very thoughtfully designed and published. It has also an interesting photograph of the author and an AIMA past president on the inside back cover! The author is a great friend and supporter of the maritime archaeology program in South Australia for many years. He comes from the local Yorke Peninsula community and has compiled a revealing community perspective of the importance of shipping to Yorke Peninsula.
