MINING WEST AUSTRALIANA
William Ford and his three brothers were born in Ireland. In 1843 the four men decided to split up and seek their fortunes to the north, south, east and west, outside the country of their birth. William Ford chose Australia, another brother went to the United States, a third to India and it is unknown where the fourth brother went. William Ford and his wife Sarah True Ford settled in the interior of Australia. Their son William Ford, nicknamed “Golden Willie” was born in Australia. Gold was discovered in Australia in 1851 and an Australian Gold Rush began. In 1883 William Ford (Golden Willie) decided to strike out on his own in search of gold. He and Arthur Bayley joined together and became partners in their search. Together they discovered Coolgardie and a very rich gold strike. Descendants still live in Australia. #0521/261122/190823 First edition
