He reported the gold rush from the Coolgardie mines and was a respected journalist in Perth before becoming Premier of Western Australia. Throughout his life Colebatch survived an assassination attempt, was a federal senator, became Agent-General in London and met some of the twentieth centurys’ most famous international figures including Winston Churchill, Adolf Hitler, Herbert Hoover, Mussolini and Helen Keller. Written by Colebatch’s son, Steadfast Knight is an entertaining, lively appreciation of a colourful and influential political figure.
