WEST AUSTRALIANA MARITIME
Captain Frank Biddles, Master Pearler, made his fortune in the early days of the pearling industry in Broome, with a vast fleet of pearling vessels. He then divested the fleet and bought pastoral land and ran more than 12,000 head of cattle on some 500,000 acres of land south of Broome. Then moving to Fremantle and settling in his mansion Ivanhoe, he grew into a well-respected, gentleman property-owner whose wisdom was sought by many.
