“Old Stick in the Mud” is a personal story written by Dick, at the age of 90 plus, to his grandchildren when asked “What was it like in the old days?” It is a gentle, humble story that conveys much of what makes Australia great today. Dick takes us on a journey through pioneering days of the northern wheatbelt of Western Australia, the dislocation of the Great Depression, his experience as a RAAF pilot in WW2, achieving a life held ambition to return to farming the land and his passion for gliding and music.
