An account of the West Australian author’s (1921-2004) World War Two experiences flying bombers over Europe with the RAAF. After surviving the crash of his Lancaster bomber over France, he was sheltered by a French family. He had progressed only part of the way along a planned escape route when he was captured by the Gestapo and ended up spending two years in various prison camps in eastern Germany.
