The letters of Eliza and Thomas Brown form a valuable addition to early accounts of the Swan River Colony, describing it in its second decade of existence. They were written for the most part by Eliza Brown to her father, William Bussey of Oxfordshire, a gentleman of considerable means. The letters are outstanding in their description of a new colony and of the experiences of the colonist.
