DEAREST ISABELLA: The life and letters of Isabella Ferguson 1819-1910

First-hand account of the life of one of a select group of gently reared, educated middle-class women who emigrated to make their homes in Western Australia in the early nineteenth century (Preface). Isabella migrated to Australia with her husband Dr. John Ferguson in 1839. After four years at Australind, Dr. Ferguson was appointed Colonial Surgeon at Perth, a position held for twenty-five years.
