WEST AUSTRALIANA Biography
Adventure with a Glass Eye is the inspirational biography of Graham Laycock, Western Australia’s first blind physiotherapist. After a tragic accident blinded him at nine years of age, Graham courageously overcame many obstacles, including missing two years of schooling and the scepticism of many,to train in London as a physiotherapist.
On his return to Western Australia Graham embarked on his successful physiotherapy career and a lifetime of humanitarian work. He was an advocate for the blind, a musician, a professional public speaker and a family man.
The book explores Graham’s childhood, teenage and adult years, giving insights into the formation and expression of his personality, humour and positive outlook on life. It also creates a picture of what it was like to grow up in Western Australia during and after the Second World War.
