Describes in great detail the conditions in which they lived in Ireland, (It describes their living conditions at the time of Ireland’s Great Famine) at their trials, en route to Van Diemen’s Land, as convicts and as pardoned convicts making a new life for themselves in their new homeland. The final chapter charts the fortune of their family in the Tasmanian west coast mining industry.
