AVIATION
Pioneer Australian pilot who flew with such legends as Charles Kingsford Smith (with whom he went on barnstorming trips around the country in the Southern Cross), searched for Lasseter’s lost reef, opened a new air route between Australia and South America, landed in Hiroshima soon after the bombing and in China searching for pig bristles, served out WWII in the RAAF and finally flew tourists to the Pacific Islands and Ayers Rock. With over 25000 flying hours his reminiscences provide a rare insight into the characteristics and characters of pioneering flight in Australia.
