King’s Cross in the early 1960s. Slessor was a career journalist and editor at The Sun in Sydney, at the popular and sometimes ‘vulgar’ Smith’s Weekly, and later at the Daily Telegraph. He was described as a fastidious gentlemen, a city lover, who took great care choosing pens and paper for his work, and an excellent cook who loved books, art and fine objects. Robert Walker’s atmospheric photographs capture the era. First Edition. pp. 120 #1220 (some edgewear to cover at top of spine, gift inscription on prelim.)
