Born in Meckering, Western Australia in 1926, Brian McKay decided to pursue career as an artist from a young age. He is known as an abstract-expressionist painter and although he had no formal art training he was invited to join the ‘Perth Group’ with artists such as Guy Grey Smith and Robert Juniper in 1961.
