  • My name is Bert Brunet, a fourth generation Australian born in Sydney, 16th May 1946. I have shared my enthusiasm and knowledge through books, lectures, displays and instructions. From an early age I was greatly encouraged by my parents, neighbors and teachers to pursue an interest in nature, however, first-hand experiences in the home garden proved my best teacher. As a young lad I was introduced to the Australian bushland by my father. I began specializing in macro photography in May, 1974, finding it a powerful medium to share information of the natural world, as it aids scientific knowledge, increases our connection with the natural world, and provides aesthetic pleasure. My knowledge of entomology is the result of studying textbooks of the appropriate standard, attending courses of instruction, personal study, formal courses, and especially field work, ie a five year project 1974-1979, traveling Australia. I have served as hon. treasurer for the Royal Zoological Society of New South Wales (Entomological Section) and as hon. treasurer, secretary and editor for The Society for Insect Studies. My background involves writing, photography, illustrating and publishing award winning books on Australian Natural History.
