Recognized as the start of AWU’s popularity. The story was associated with a real murder case in which AWU gave evidence, and which he later described in the very rare booklet, The Murchison Murders, [1934]. AWU repeated the theme in one of his few short stories, Wisp of Wool and Disk of Silver, which was included in Ellery Queen’s Crime Cruise Round the World, Dial Press, New York, 1981. It was the only short story to feature ‘Bony’.
