AUSTRALIAN MILITARY
As new copy! The 6th Battalion, the Royal Melbourne Regiment traces its origins back to the Goldrush days of 1854, when the colony of Victoria was faced with rebellion at Ballarat and a threat of invasion from Russia. The Regiment is one of the oldest infantry battalions in Australia, and for many years was the only battalion permitted to bear the Royal title.
‘Bold, Steady, Faithful’, which was the motto of the Carlton Company in 1861, provides a fascinating insight into the life of a unit of citizen soldiers, whose members responded to the call of two World Wars.
