ARCHITECTURE Books Collectable
Danish architect Johannes Pripp-Moller first traveled to China in 1921, commissioned to work on projects for missionary societies by the Circle of Architects, a Christian professional society. He later devoted himself to the study of Buddhist monasteries, both the architectural and social structures. His extensive travels through China from 1929 to 1933 resulted in this monumental work, originally published in 1937.

- “A labour of love originally published in 1937 by Danish architect Johannes Prip-Moller (1889-1943). Thoroughly researched and illustrated throughout with photographs, floor plans, and architectural illustrations, this tome is still regarded as the definite work on the subject and provides invaluable insight into Chinese Buddhist monastic life.”
